Winner [which stands for: Women Improving Now Not Ever Retreating] provide a range of services including accredited courses for women, a specialist domestic violence and abuse service, a specialist sexual health service and an outreach support service, helping women isolated in their own homes. The project will provide 24 dwellings arranged around a private and protected courtyard, to include 8no. 3 bed townhouses; 8no. 1 bed flats; and 8no. 2 bed flats. An activity / training / meeting / office space will also be provided, which will connect to the adjacent Women’s Centre.

The dwellings will be constructed of red facing brick to ground floor perimeter walls including the boundary wall, which incorporates ‘hit and miss’ brickwork to allow sunlight to filter through whilst also maintaining privacy to the internal courtyard. Marley Profile 3 cladding is proposed to roofs (with 30 and 60 degree roofs to support photovoltaics) and first floor walls. Various shades of yellow Trespa panels are incorporated into the courtyard facing elevations to create an uplifting environment whilst also maintaining the Women’s Centre signature appearance of coloured buildings as a safe place for women.
