Educational Pavilion

Shalom is long standing community and young people’s organisation embedded in the East Marsh area of Grimsby. Their aim is to reach young people at risk in the East Marsh Ward and through sustained long term relationships enable them to become functioning adults. This ‘pavilion’ project complements the existing Shalom church and youth centre and the proposed East Marsh Village Hall to provide a notable campus of community facilities. The project provides space for young people to study and get their homework done in a safe and supportive environment. The space is flexible and will be suitable for a range of small scale community gatherings. The building has a distinctive roof form, reminiscent of an open book. The building is secured by decorative shutters and metal railings allowing the buildings to be opened up to the street and the adjacent park.
