We were approached to design a pavilion structure to serve the local allotments in Cleethorpes. The building accommodates a teaching space, office and shop to sell the produce grown on site.
The design of the structure was informed by nature, the plan based on a sectional cut through a piece of fruit (skin, pulp and seeds) with the timber facade forming a protective skin to the activities taking place within. The building was conceived as an object of two qualities; by night the building is a closed shell and by day the facade comes alive with the opening up of shutters and canopies.
