Social Space & Refectory Refurbishment, Franklin College

Social Space & Refectory Refurbishment, Franklin College

SECTOR: Education  – CONTRACT VALUE: £500,000.00 – DATE COMPLETED: September 2014

Existing catering facilities were tired and mismatched. By removing and puncturing roofs and walls with glazing and providing a consistent floor finish this project links existing refectory areas providing a wider variety of spaces to eat and study.

Key spaces include the ‘coffee shop’ atmosphere of “Frankies” and the more formal layout of the “Buzz Cafe” with a central servery capable of serving hot food to the 1500 students within the 40 minute lunch break. Both spaces open up to external courtyard areas. The project was completed within an eight week period at a cost of £800/minclusive of furniture.
