The new building, designed as the college’s public face, provides a single point of access and support services for all students, staff  and visitors. The original brick school has been reinterpreted in the new building in terms of scale, form and most particularly Flemish bond brickwork forming a ‘skin’ that wraps the building. The building is aligned on an axis with the church opposite. There is a civic ‘locking in’ of the new building with the church. The brickwork above the entrance is extended to form a clock tower in a conversational response to the church tower opposite.
