    The new building, designed as the college’s public face, provides a single point of access and support services for all students, staff and visitors. The original brick school has been reinterpreted in the new building in terms of scale, form and most particularly Flemish bond brickwork forming a ‘skin’ that wraps the building.

  • Shortlisted for RIBA Awards: Classroom Block 2013

    Franklin College Teaching Block, Grimsby

    The new teaching block is positioned to enclose external courtyard spaces (a feature of the existing college) and form a strong edge to the existing car park. The new building will be entered off the newly opened up corridor to the west of the Learning Centre and contains ten teaching spaces, informal tutorial spaces, a staff base, reprographics and storage faculties.

    Keighley Central Hall, Keighley

    Central Hall in Keighley is a former Primitive Methodist Chapel, which is situated in the town centre conservation area. The newly refurbished and extended Central Hall is owned by the City of Bradford Metropolitan Council and run by Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary & Community Action (KIVCA).

    Shortlisted for a 3R Award - Houses & conversions/Structures 2011

    The Settlement

    The ‘Old Papershop’, a former newsagents and a Grade II Listed Georgian property, sits in the market square of Caistor, Lincolnshire. It has recently been converted into a bar/ restaurant named The Settlement, a reference to the town’s Roman origins.

    The scheme comprises of two main elements set as timber clad boxes with masonry walls internally with large glazed openings, solar shading and timber terraces to the west.

    The Grimsby Women’s Aid was founded in 1977 and has been located at its current premises for 27 years. The accommodation has been adapted from a number of police houses which were once part of the listed crown court complex of buildings.

Our main responsibility was to provide a good quality working environment which responded to the specialness of the site and context with respect to distant views, gardens, extendability and flexibility in use.     The project involved the improvement of recreational facilities – providing bar, games, concert, events and dining areas. After stripping out partitions, a space was created on the ground floor of the main teaching and administration block and expanded with a timber-framed glazed extension overlooking a courtyard which creates an airy inside-outside space.

    Immage 2000 Studios, Immingham

    The centre, which was partially funded by European Union and National Lottery grants, provides television and video production equipment, a sound studio, television conference facilities and a learning resource centre.
